The discovery of a boat without a crew has sparked a search in North Wales.

At 6 a.m. on Saturday, officials were alerted to a 20-foot cruiser in the sea in Colwyn Bay.

A lifeboat attended the scene at 7.20am and its crews searched the water for victims, but none were found.

HM Coastguard later said he was “reasonably” confident that the four men on board had disembarked safely.

Detective Sergeant Mark Bamber said: “We believe the boat came into the area yesterday and entered the waters at Conwy. The boat is called the Phoenix Hardy.

“We are appealing to owners or persons with any knowledge of the boat to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number A039123.”
